FAQs
Date & Time
What is the date of the wedding?
Our wedding will be taking place on Saturday 23 May 2026.
What time do we need to arrive?
We ask that everyone arrives by 1:30pm, as we will be starting the service at 2:00pm.
What time does it finish?
The wedding will end at midnight, we ask that last guests have taxis booked for around this time.
Location
Where is the wedding taking place?
Our wedding is taking place at The Old Rectory, Burdock Lane, Great Melton, South Norfolk, NR9 3BN. It is just outside of Norwich.
Is it the same venue for the ceremony and reception?
Yes, the ceremony and reception will both be taking place at The Old Rectory.
What type of venue is it?
The venue is a rectory with spacious grounds containing a marquee. The wedding ceremony, drinks reception, evening meal and celebrations will all take place either in the grounds outside (weather permitting) or in the marquee, as opposed to the rectory building itself.
Travel
How do we get to The Old Rectory?
More information regarding getting to The Old Rectory can be found on our Travel & Accommodation page.
Is there parking available at the venue?
Yes. There is plenty of parking available at the venue. This will be clearly signposted on the day and there will be an attendant present to help you find a space.
Will we need to pre-book taxis?
Yes. The venue is in rural Norfolk with unreliable on-demand taxi services and you will need to pre-book transport. We have listed out recommended providers on our Travel & Accommodation page.
Is it viable to do as a day trip from London or the South East?
It is definitely doable as a day trip from London or the South East depending on your willingness to drive. From Tonbridge, the drive to the venue will take roughly 2h 30m.
If you are travelling from London, you can catch a train from Liverpool Street to Norwich. This takes around 1h 50m, and then taxi onwards to the venue which is a further 25m drive away. Last trains do not run too late, so you will need to stay overnight if you are planning on staying to the end.
Accommodation
Is there recommended accommodation for the night before or night of the wedding?
We recommend staying in Norwich City Centre the night before/night of the wedding. We have listed some recommended hotels here.
Dress Code
Is there a dress code?
Usual wedding attire, please avoid wearing the bridal party colours (white, and forest green).
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
We are hoping for the ceremony and drinks reception to take place outdoors. The reception will be in a marquee in The Old Rectory’s grounds.
Food
What food will be provided?
Our wedding breakfast (evening meal) will be a pizza buffet served alongside side salads, with bread and charcuterie to start. Four types of stone-baked pizza, including margherita and pepperoni, will be on offer.
We also have a chip van arriving later during the evening reception, serving topped chip buckets.
We have booked a five-star wedding cake baker to make our wedding cake as well as a selection of smaller cakes that will be available for dessert.
When will food be served?
The evening meal will be served at approximately 5:00pm.
Some light snacks will be available during the drinks reception in the afternoon, at around 2:45pm. We recommend you eat lunch or make plans for a very large breakfast before arriving at the wedding!
Loaded chips will be served at approximately 9:00pm until late.
What if I have specific dietary requirements?
Please make sure you let us know your requirements when you RSVP.
Drinks
Will alcohol be provided?
Alcohol (as well as soft drinks) will be provided during the drinks reception, and ample wine will be provided during the meal.
Past the meal being served, soft drinks, beers, ciders, mixed drinks, cocktails and wine will be available to purchase from the pay bar in the marquee. The opening time of the bar is planned for after the meal, but, at the discretion of the bar staff, this may open earlier.
What drinks will be served during the drinks reception and meal?
Specific drinks are to be confirmed, but alongside a range of soft drinks, we envision at our drinks reception serving a mixed, spritzer-style drink (think Pimms) along with glasses of English sparkling wine.
For the meal, we will be serving bottles of red, white and rose wine to the table for all to enjoy. We ask that you indicate a preference for this when you RSVP, although this is just for us to get rough numbers for how much of each wine to buy. We won’t take any note of this when serving, and all bottles will be available on all tables!
The wine selection (once carefully curated by James!) will be detailed at a later date.
Is there an open or pre-paid bar?
No. As detailed above, we will provide specific drinks for our drinks reception, plus plenty of wine for the evening meal. There will be a paid bar available for any drinks aside from this to be purchased, and for any drinks after dinner service has ended.
Photography
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We ask that no photos are taken during the ceremony. We have two lovely photographers who will be capturing the moment for us. Once the ceremony is over, feel free to take as many photos and videos as you like.
Can I share photos and videos on social media?
Of course! We’d love for you to share any photos that capture the beauty of the day.
Will we be able to view the official wedding photos?
Yes, we will be able to share a link to the official wedding photos after the event.
